I am now 25 years old. That's gonna take a little getting used to. It was a glorious birthday. Anthony took me out for breakfast and I recieved many wonderful presents including the first series of Chuck on DVD as well as the first series of Flashpoint, and Anthony bought me a Nintendo DS which I completely didn't expect. Although I did spent an unholy amount of time on his Mum's over Christmas (whoops). Then it was time for me to jump into my pretty pink dress and off we went to Katie and Lerys wedding. It was a marvellous thing. The service itself was so sweet and touching, I cannot believe they're married, and I had a chance to catch up with so many people. The food was excellent at the reception too as well the speeches, always a worry. By the end of it, we were sweltering hot with aching feet and ready to head home but so very happy.

Ah Wimbledon is over for another year. I cannot believe how well Andy Roddick played, I am so proud of him. I desperately wanted him to win, but knew that Federer would probably get his record-breaking win. He has beaten Roddick so many times before. Don't get me wrong, I adore Federer, but I've always had a special place in my heart for Roddick and I so want him to win another Slam. It's only Murray and Nadal that can really knock Federer off his perfect game. So here's to the next season, when Rafa has healthy knees and Murray gets even further. The British press is all scathing and depressed about Murray not getting to the final, but hello, he got to the semis for the first time ever and that is well worth celebrating.

So here's an awesome Roddick RPS fic. His POV after losing to Federer at Wimbledon 2009:

RAFA WON!!! (I'm choosing not to put this under a cut since the news has been shouting about it).

Longest Wimbledon final ever and incredibly tense. It twisted me up so badly that I had to leave after Federer made it two sets all and wept long and hard in the shower. I haven't been that emotional in a Wimbledon final since Sampras (yawn) had that string of wins and I was constantly pulling for Agassi (whose delightful smile and style I still miss). But I adore both Roger and Rafa, though both me and Mum were pulling for Rafa to win, Mum especially cos a Roger win would mean her beloved Bjorn Borg's record of 5 straight Wimbledon wins would have been beaten. I am so immensely proud of Rafa and his sweet broken English in his thank-you speech warmed me. Mum and I called to the TV, telling Roger we still loved him cos we do and he's wonderfully put together and perfect. But Rafa is raw and aggressive and piratey and he completely deserved it. He had the edge.

Oooh and today, Anthony and I went to the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth and saw lots of fish. There were sharks and turtles and starfish and incredible tanks full of sea life. It was beautifully done and I'm glad I got to explore it, even if there were tons of noisy school parties. We ate our lunch in front of the Atlantic Reef tank as a hostess told us all about the fish there. Then we came home and I watched the first four episodes of Stargate: Atlantis season 1. It was made of win though very strange to see John so cynical, Teyla so stoic and Rodney not quite as McKay as he becomes. Lovely to see where it all began and Anthony enjoyed it. He shall be converted :- )

It's been a whirl since I got to Cornwall on Thursday, but the most important and exciting thing that has happened is my birthday on Friday. I am now 24 glorious years old, kinda a strange thought but age has never mattered to me. I'm not one of those girls who feels incredibly upset about how many years she's got. Just a number to me.

Most excitingly, I now own the first two series of Stargate Atlantis, almost none of which I have seen before, so I can't wait to get started on them at some point soon. Also the Robin of Sherwood soundtrack and the first volume of the anime book Return to the Labyrinth. I feel all spoiled, in the best way possible. Plus thank you for all the lovely birthday greetings, you guys are lovely and it really made me smile.

Right now, I am hiding out from the Wimbledon men's finale cos Rafa Nadal was coming so close to beating Federer (whom I adore also) and is now on unsteady ground against the defending champ. I so want Rafa to win but I can't see it happening this year now. I can't take the pressure of it anymore so I'm hiding out online.

That was a good men's singles final at Wimbledon on Sunday. I think I'm only just coming down from the high of it lol. It was Nadal vs Federer, both going after records held by Borg (who was watching from the royal box), and it was more of a dogfight than a match.

I am looking forward to seeing Rafa win Wimbledon in the future cos his grass court skills have improved so much just in a year, but this year belonged to Roger. It's five Wimbledon wins in a row now for him, he's such an artist on the court - I've never seen a player like him before. It was a joy to watch. I'm gonna miss the eye candy cos tennis players are super yummy. Have you seen the arms on Nadal? Seriously hot.

So after two buses and three trains, I got back to Southampton safely yesterday. It feels like I've been gone five minutes, not eight days. The weather's boiling here so I got my sheets washed and dried, though it does mean that stepping outside is like stepping into an oven, ick. Got my grocery shopping done and went on a long walk into a part of Southampton I don't normally go to cos I've got a meeting at someone's house there in a week and I wanted to be sure of the route. It goes over this big river and there's some nice park land by it. For a second, when I was on the bridge and looking at the park and the boats in the water and seeing the big metal cranes nearby, it was like being in Cornwall again.

I've just watched a CSI: New York episode with John McEnroe in, I kid you not. I couldn't make that up. It amused me muchly, especially since he's one of my Wimbledon faves and it's the men's singles final tomorrow. I watched Federer blast his way through his semi-final today so I'm looking forward to the final. I miss watching it with my mum and Si, but at least I'll get to see it. My mum worked out the other day that I was watching Wimbledon from as early an age as 3 cos she's mega obsessed with it and always has it on every year. Wimbledon is so much love.

Is it ever going to stop raining? Probably not for a while. I feel sorry for the players at Wimbledon, they've had so many rain delays, but there's still been some good matches and I got to watch Nadal play a bit which is always good - he's so yummy. Plus Mum says that Bjorn Borg is coming back for only the second time since he retired to see if Federer is gonna equal his record of five singles title wins in a row.

Time has gone quickly here in Cornwall as I'm off home to Southampton tomorrow. Think good thoughts for a good train journey, I have a couple of changes but should get back early evening. Cornwall isn't home anymore, it's where my parents live and my bedroom here is the room of the 17 year old Emily who lived here before university. I wish I could have more time here, it feels all rushed, especially after my mum's news. Her operation isn't until late August now so she'll have her holiday in France with Dad and Ali first which is really nice.

Whenever I come here I always seem to discover some old television shows which are new to me. I've been watching the UK version of Fort Boyard and the Ed Tudor-Pole series of The Crystal Maze (ok, so this one's been an obsession for a while now) and RollerJam which is mania on wheels but so much fun for the messy thing that it is. Yes, I am obsessed with action/adventure gameshows. They're inspiring me to write, I've been writing something with Ed in it and have realised that he's like another version of the Doctor (eccentric British-voiced male travels around time and space with friends lol). Never let it be said that I am not consistent.
