Yesterday was me and Anthony's two year anniversary. This time next year, we'll be married. That is a weird thought! Exciting and awesome though. We went out to dinner at Boozy Rouge, an Alice in Wonderland-themed restaurant that was down at basement level. Very cool and secretive. Our table was the King of Hearts :) Anthony had venison, I told him that Bambi will judge him lol. Tasted good though. An extremely cold night but fun was had by all. Here's to many more years, baby! - Tags:southampton

Anthony went to London yesterday for the NFL game and loved it. He went last year with his buds and they got to go to the tailgate party this year too. Apparently he got something for me, the mind boggles as to what that could be. What tickled me was starandreawas watching that very game live. It made me smile :) Poor Barty. One of the cats here hurt his hip and to go to the vet to get it sorted. He came back wearing one of those conical plastic collars to stop him from scratching and a large part of his back end shaved of fur. He has to be caged up for two weeks so that he won't jump and hurt it again. He looks so sad and pitiful, all big eyes and plaintive meows. I want to hug him so badly. KFC for lunch over the weekend. Boy, did it make me happy. It's the little things sometimes. Also got rid of two years worth of Doctor Who Magazines, found a bunch of bank stuff I should have shredded eons ago, and finally bagged up the tons of Amazon paperwork I have accumulated over the years and am preparing to shred those. Yay progress. Cleaning makes me happy. Now all I need is the Christmas music.

Busy busy busy. It's not even Halloween yet and already I am preparing for Christmas. It's that Dalrymple side of me coming out to assert control, more than usual anyway. I have presents bought for half my family and am struggling to think of something for little sis. The plan is to take those presents, wrapped and presentable, down with me when I visit the parents in November so that I have less to haul with me on December 24th when Anthony and I make our way there for Christmas itself. Travelling on trains is hard enough at Christmas without the lumpy awkward baggage of presents. I also feel as though I am spreading my wings and jumping off from a great height as I fire off emails to all those far and wide who work computers and cameras at church for that great difficulty of my year - organising the Christmas rota for church service visuals. There are many services and naturally, my operators want to enjoy their own Christmases. But still, eager young Adam, only twelve and already straining at the leesh, is keen to do many duties now that he has learnt what to do and I have found wonderful Doug, computer sciences student who knows his Red Dwarf, who wants to learn everything. I'm gonna get him to ferret out more of his fellow students to join team, as we losing the ever wonderful and man of all answers, Jeremy as his work shifts him to Salisbury. I shall miss his reassuring presence very much so. Also the fantastic Mr Todd wishes to break away but has agreed to be emergencies only Pray for me and send all good thoughts that I would get this all fixed and ready by middle of next month. Alas, we lose another. RIP Barry Letts. The man who produced the Jon Pertwee era of Doctor Who, who created the character of Sarah-Jane Smith, and who cast Tom Baker in the role and so changed everything. I feel I owe him so much and wish I'd met him to tell him so. Thinking of him gives me a warm nostalgic feeling. Today, I found a lovely message from his family to the fans. It says all it needs to: "Barry always had a warm respect for the fans of Dr Who. As Barry’s family, we would like to thank everyone for their good wishes on the websites and forums following the news that Barry had died. We have been very touched that the many messages and tributes show such an appreciation and understanding, both of his work and of the very kind and wise man that Barry was." Attack of the spambots! One got hold of my Facebook account and started posting advertisments for slimming products on all my friends walls. Every annoying. Hopefully it's all fixed now. It kinda came out of nowhere and I didn't realise til it started posting on my wall. My friends were mostly amused at the thought of me using slimming products.
It rained and rained yesterday and I wore my winter work trousers for the first time in a very long while and got a blister from my winter shoes. Then I splashed home, threw on my wellies, and headed to a church student group meeting. I was soaked through when I arrived and probably smelled very ripe. Still, Anthony was pleased to see me and I sprawled between him and Jonathan and ate baked potato and laughed at Kendra's exploratory antics - she's fascinated by remote controls right now. It's a lovely group to be part of cos we're all so radically different but that doesn't matter. I know I can rely on them all. It's a nice feeling :)
My parentals are off on their cruise tomorrow. I cannot believe they're doing it and I'm so thrilled for them. Dad says his mission is to get a photo of Mum on a camel. I cannot see it happening, but I'd love to see him try. I'm so jealous that they're going to see the pyramids. Maybe I can persuade Anthony to take me there?

Yay for a brief, but lovely weekend in Cornwall. It was just what Anthony needed - a break from the stresses of work. And we got to see Round the Horne at the theatre. It really was funny. It's sad the theatre wasn't fuller really. I love going to the Theatre Royal, it's where I spent so many special times as I grew up.
I love the views I get from the train on the journey to and from Cornwall. Going through Exeter brought all sorts of memories - it's where Andy's from and where he and Jess first met back when she was still dating my brother, it's where Lerys ex-fiance, Laura, went to university, I've visited the cathedral there with my parents and Anthony, it's where Baby Mel went to university and where I first met her. And the view of the sea is always glorious on that journey. I think Granny P was right; once you've lived by the sea, you'll always go back to it.
Wonderful exciting news - Emma is pregnant again! Kendra is gonna be a big sister. Emma told us the news in a way only she could - she breezed into the church kitchen and shouted to Anthony through the open hatch "help a pregnant lady with some boxes!" Heehee. And Kendra is so grown up now, crawling everywhere at incredible speed, pulling herself up to stand up though not walking yet. It's a joy to hold her, watch her smile and dance and wobble and see her grow. It actually makes me look forward to having my own in the not too distant future.

'Seriously, everything's going to be all right, whatever you're feeling right now' - on the back of a bathroom stall door in the pub last night
This week is turning out to be an excellent one for Anthony's birthday. Last night was reunion of his university housemates, for the first time in a long time - Tommy lives in Milan and Alex in Melbourne. George is Anthony's second best man so I was glad to finally meet him and his lovely long-term girlfriend, Karen. They each have a t-shirt to commemorate the time they lived together, with a number and a quote on the back. Apparently I'll get one too, which is pretty touching. We went to The Hobbit pub, definitely my favourite in Soton, and played a mad card game that I lost. It was really good fun and great to get to know the important people in Anthony's life. Now I can't wait for Saturday, where there will be ice hockey, a BBQ and more of Anthony's friends :)

Belated happy birthday wishes to the fantastical gnimaerd and femalephenom who both colour my life in ways I can never repay them for. Hope you both had the joyous days that you deserve and that you liked the cards. It was a really beautiful journey back to Southampton. The views are always so spectacular, Anthony and I read and watched DVDs on his laptop and just enjoyed the journey. When the trains run right, it's such an enjoyable experience. The house here is peaceful, but without the others around I always feel on edge when I'm trying to sleep in an empty house. I do have great grandpa's truncheon beside my bed though, so I am armed and ready should I need to be :) Gah, Anthony's birthday present still hasn't turned up and it's now been the expected delivery time and his birthday is a week on Sunday. So I am gonna email them tonight to ask what's happened. I have warned Anthony that part of his present will likely be an IOU. He's been trying to guess and he has got it right, but I hope that I haven't let on! I am really enjoying Chuck right now, having finished the first series and begun the second. It's a lot of geeky espionage fun. And Leverage series 2 started last night and it was wonderful to see the gang again, they are so great together. Plus I'm looking into Scarecrow and Mrs King, which is turning out to be delightful. It's great to explore the past and the present delights that TV has to offer :)

Hurray for menstrual back cramps. They always feel worse in the summer, cos the heat makes everything feel stickier. So I stocked up on towels and chocolate today, I'll need both since I'm doing a week of full work days (8am - 6pm, getting up at 6.30am) which always wipe me out normally. I do get overtime though, which is nice, and my co-worker Bill gets to go on a walking holiday with his lovely wife. Jon very kindly cooked me and Anthony a meal last night - awesome stew with rice then chocolate mousse and then finally many cheeses to choose from. And of course there were tea as Jon is a big tea addict and buys many different types. We chatted geek mostly, he's one of the biggest Firefly fans I know and Anthony and I have got him watching our collection of classic Doctor Who DVDs so that he is educated. Then we headed out for an evening at Ceno's, a popular wine bar where everyone seems very glamorous, with lots of friends from church. It was organised so we could see Chrissie whilst she was here for the weekend and it was awesome to catch up with her and the others. Also got into a nice text conversation with Jess who'd spotted me at Ceno's on her way home from work.
Britain's Got Talent - the right act won. I am so happy. Mum said she and Ali screamed with joy when the result was announced, just like we did when Will Young won Pop Idol. Wish I'd been there to join in with the happiness. Watch here to see why this act deserved to win.

I was very sad to hear about the death of the wrestler, Andrew Martin - best known for working under the name Test. His courtship with Stephanie McMahon is the first wrestling storyline I can ever remember watching and his stint in T&A with their feud with the Hardys and Lita is a standout memory too. He was 33 years old. Definitely gone before his time. I bawled last week after watching the most recent Supernatural episode as there was an 'In Memoriam' message about executive producter and episode director, Kim Manners. Manners died in January from cancer and I was so sad to hear of it. The entire fourth series is dedicated to him and I know they all miss him 'cause he was such a force behind the scenes and on set. Instead of flowers and gifts, his family ask for donations to be sent to The American Cancer Society in Kim's memory. Supernatural fans have done just that, one comm raised $1650 in his name within a week of his death. Had a major chuck out in my room yesterday. Threw out loads of old papers like fics when I used to handwrite them before typing them up and Easter People newsletters and uni cell group notes. I always feel better after having a clear out. Definitely gonna do one when I'm next in Cornwall.

So my parents were here for the weekend and mostly it was of the good. We spent most of Saturday in town and Mum and I shopped for an outfit for me for Jess and Andy's wedding next week - I have never spent so much money on a single outfit, but it is gorgeous and should be completely worth it. Then we bought a lot of Chinese food and watched Doctor Who (terrifying, unexpected, I wouldn't watch it for fun!), before Anthony and I headed over to Chrissie's birthday happenings.
Sunday we went in to Portsmouth, looking at the historic docks. It was pretty amazing actually and though Dad went perculiar a couple of times, it seemed to pass ok. Then it was cold dinner at mine and church which both Mum and Dad enjoyed - it was their first time at my Southampton church. Plus yesterday marked six months in Anthony and my relationship - he got me a cute little gift from ebay, a copy of Abby's NCIS ID. Made me smile. The boy knows me well.
