A-Merchandise has proved to be one of the best sites I've bought from, customer service wise. I emailed them because a present I'd bought for Anthony hadn't turned up after 2 weeks, despite PayPal telling me that the payment had gone through. I got a phone call from a guy there today and we chatted about what to do. I feel like it's money well spent. I wish more sites were that good.

I have discovered Glee. Yes, it's not groundbreaking, but I got caught on Puck/Rachel really quick and keep rewatching 'Mash-Up.' The showmakers are definitely going for a Dawson's Creek style love square. This will not end well. Still, the fanfiction for this pairing is making me extremely happy :) I shall enjoy it whilst it lasts. A shiny new fandom is always a great boost, especially when a pairing is that utterly wonderful. Yes, I am hooked.
12th-Oct-2008 11:40 am - My weekend - hockey and smex fics
everybodylives
Whilst not being the most brilliant result for Anthony's team last night, the ice hockey game was a ton of fun. It's the third I've been to and I really enjoyed it. There were three fights and they were awesome, our guys totally won all three. Anthony laughed at my joy at seeing Brad and Goulet and Patrick show Newcastle who was boss. What can I say, I was totally there for the hotties and the violence. Our defense was full of holes though, hence the bad result. Good times and Anthony was volunteered to take part in one of the period break games which won him money off dinner at a place in town which shall be fun in the future.

Anthony and I were discussing fanfics recently and the smex and the smut. See, I pass onto him decent Doctor Who fics which I think he'll enjoy and they're the only fanfics he reads cos he ventured into some hockey comms and discovered that pretty much every fic revolved around sex. I did warn him lol. Anyway, he thinks its pointless for people to write PWP especially if they're pairings which are OC and totally wouldn't happen in the show whereas I pointed out that that is the beauty of fandoms - there's literally something for everyone, everyone will find a pairing that they like or connect with. He thinks there's no point in writing in sex fics, that there's no value to them. It was a very interesting discussion. I said that whilst I don't like or agree with incest fics or minor fics so never read them, I do believe in people's right to write them and will defend that. It's what being part of the fandom world is all about.

Clearly I am Robin Hood obsessed, the legend and the ideal. I am now making my way through my 6th interpretation of it and loving it. Most recently I've been looking at what's online of The New Adventures of Robin Hood, it's the Xena and Hercules era version - Robin's American, the outfits are hilarious, but I adore the characters, Robin's gorgeous, there's an awesome community hidden in the forest, and Marion uses a whip. What more could you want? Well, a little more resolution on the Robin and Marion relationship rather than just jealousy of attention the other gets from the opposite sex, heated bickering, and the occasional admittance of something there. Someone release this on DVD please!

So now it's the real old classic black and white version, simply The Adventures of Robin Hood. No, not the film of the same name though that is made of awesome for a spirited Marian, everything looks gorgeous, and no one slaps a thigh quite like Errol Flynn! I'm enjoying seeing the similarities between all the interpretations, the things added in (a Saracen outlaw first appeared in Robin of Sherwood, folks!), and just the great plain and simple message of encouragement to stand up for what's right, no matter the consequences. Cheesy in this day and age, but it's still relevant. I love it!

I have the pleasent feeling that everything is going full circle today. I am wearing a Nirvana hoodie that Jess recently gave me during her clothes clear out, it is the same hoodie that my brother borrowed from her and wore at home in Cornwall when he was dating Jess many years ago. It makes me smile.

Stargate is something else that closes a circle I was contemplating. I was gotten into fanfiction by a girl who wrote for Stargate: SG1, which I didn't watch at the time. This year, about 6 years on, I have gotten heavily into the Stargate universe for the first time. It's like everything's catching up with me, it's kinda nice.

More proof of how David Tennant is made of win. This made me smile so much. Doctor Who prom scene goodness here. Silly and kinda perfect. What's the song in you?

Been watching a lot of series 5 & 6 That 70's Show and remembered how much Jackie/Hyde is my OTP. They work so well as a couple and season 8 totally ruined them. As every J/H shipper knows, that season did not happen! We ignore or rewrite. Just watching them together makes me smile cos they've got the best couple qualities  - they change each other for the better, have great sharp dialogue, and care for each other so much. Makes me feel all shippy lol. Yay for well-written shows and amazing characters.

Things of the good this week:

1. Work hours are normal and I can begin to adjust my sleep hours (hopefully).

2. Lemonade biscuits from America thanks to Dee. I shall share them tonight with Chrissie when we watch The Princess Bride,

3. Jack O'Neill is winning my heart. Actually the whole SG1 team, all incarnations, has done that. I ship Jack/Sam and Daniel/Vala. Sorry, Jack/Daniel is just way squicky to me. Abyss made me cry and 200 laugh and love and feel giddy. I continue to explore this fabulous universe and look forward to seeing Daniel spend two episodes in Atlantis in their next series, squee!
14th-Mar-2008 10:43 pm - Getting more geek by the minute
everybodylives
I have reached new levels of geekdom. I bought this month's SFX Magazine cos it had a four page article on Robin of Sherwood. It was a top article too - praising the series and how its interpretation of the Robin Hood legend will never be bettered. Amen to that. Inspired me to start work on writing a new fic I've been thinking of for that fandom too.

Also have watched some Ashes to Ashes and really liked it. I've always loved Gene and I do really like Gene/Alex *hides from the rabid Sam/Gene shippers*. I look forward to seeing where it all goes. Plus the fics I've found for the Galex pairing are top. I look forward to more.
8th-Feb-2008 10:29 am - Fighting the fever
dreaming
I am combatting my cold and feverish head with copious amounts of tea and medications and healthy doses of fandom - saw my first full episodes of SGA and loved it. To make things even better [info]starandrea's book arrived yesterday! I did my happy dance and am loving reading her fascinating work again. I feel so proud and happy that I've been part of this journey with her, yay.

The All-Stars show was love last night. Got to see 'American Dragon' Bryan Danielson and Doug Williams, but was most excited that once again was graced by the wonder that is Robbie Brookside and Frankie Sloan. Anthony is most amused by my excitement at seeing them. He understands that he shares my heart with the many lovely men of my fandoms lol. And the All-Stars come back in April, how's that for fast return? Looking forward to it already.

The down side to having a boyfriend with a cold is that you end up getting the cold yourself. I kinda figured that'd happen, but really didn't expect it to hit me this hard. My head is really woozy and my nose non-stop. The All-Star wrestling show tomorrow is not gonna be as fun as anticipated.

Have been noodling around a little in the Stargate: Atlantis fandom (despite never having seen a full episode) cos so many of my online buds love it and I like what I see. Ronon really caught my eye, and not just because of those shapely arms. I love the Ronon/Keller ship, Jewel Staite is always love anyway but those two together are a particular magic. Also in certain lights and when he makes certain expressions, Ronon looks like the late Kevin Smith (Xena's Ares). Hit me right in the chest when I realised. So I think Ronon's always gonna have a place in my heart now.

The second series of Torchwood started tonight and I loved it, probably more than any episode of series 1.
