Fic Recs - Sherlock (BBC 2010)

Because we had another excellent Sherlock episode last night and the internet is alive with the buzz of this wonderful new fandom, I'm doing a fic recs post of my favourite Sherlock fics I've stumbled across so far. Enjoy:

The Trick is to Make it Look Easy by paperclipbitch , P6-13, Sherlock/John
"Your blog only has one sentence on it," Sherlock tells him.
John helps Sherlock understand the world outside and works out how to write his blog. ie the Sherlock fic everyone's read by now and for good reason :)

London Calling by chaletian , PG, Gen
LOL at the frequent action John's mobile phone gets now that he knows Sherlock. It's a good metaphor for what Sherlock's done to his life. Such fun with brilliant moments, like Mycroft's text.

europe, after the rain by sartorialists PG-13, Sherlock/John
"I author my own disasters and successes," Sherlock says, as John is pushing Sherlock's coat off his shoulders, "because I know what humans are capable of once they abandon dignity." We don’t have to be good or play by the rules, ‘cause we’re the same in the things that we do.
This fic is a sensory journey. When I read it, it's like sinking into it.

On Habits and Toast by moorishflower , G, Sherlock & John
It's easy to get to know Sherlock's habits, but getting to know the man himself is a bit more difficult.
John learns Sherlock, with an odd version of help from the man in question who needs to learn the art of normal information sharing. A delight, I especially love the ending :)

The story of how Mycroft Holmes got demoted and was actually quite pleased by it by lavvyan PG, Sherlock/John implied, Mycroft
Dr Watson is sick, Sherlock is a nuscience and Mycroft intervenes.
A look at how Mycroft views his brother and Watson and how he can help and how their relationship can change. I love this because its a different way of looking at Mycroft and it feels right.

Homemaking by rageprufrock , Gen
John's return to England does not go as planned. He has a mad flatmate to contend with and a former sister-in-law who is determined to furnish their flat. Maybe planning is overrated. There's a new Doctor Who on.
Laugh out loud funny. And rich with great dialogue and situations.

Care and Feeding by miscellanny , Gen
Watson's sick and Sherlock is helpless and inept. It works out.
There's something so sweet about this and wonderful. The reader is left warm as well as the characters.

Sherlock tries out Twitter under John's insitigation.
Because Sherlock on Twitter is a genius idea and it's hilarious. Would suggest you read up from the bottom of the entry.

Oh, I love you! I've read three of these stories, but the rest are new! Thank you very much for posting the links! :-D

BTW, I finally started betaing your story last night and should be able to get it to you today. What I've read so far has been really beautiful and moving. What a brilliant idea to set a story in Caerleon after "The Inheritance"! :-)

Awww, I love you too :) I love all these fics and they're all so different but also all so brilliant and selfishly, I'd like them all in one place so they're easy to find lol. But I wanted to share the love also and point people towards awesome fics I think they really must read and hope they love as much as I do. I can't wait to hear what you think of them. Let me know! If I find more, there may be another recs post lol. I may do them for different fandoms.

Oooh, am excited you like my fic. I find Isadora difficult to get into the head of - we only get one episode of her after all. But I'm glad you're liking it :) Thanks so much for betaing it, you're amazing xoxo

Well, I should have completed the beta sooner. I've been really struggling with the other fics in the update because they're much longer and require a lot more work. I should have tackled yours first and then you could have had it sooner. Anywaaaaay, I like your fic very much. I always thought Isadora was a great character. It's rather a shame we didn't get to see more of her.

If you haven't read it already, you might enjoy karen9's A Life for a Life. It's part of her Meg of Wickham series, but Isadora plays a really big part in the story.

*blushes* thank you :) I'm glad you think so. I just wanna share the Sherlock love. It's such a fruitfully wonderful fandom.

May do rec posts for other fandoms. It's useful having everything in one place lol. *hugs*

I think this is the first Sherlock rec post I've seen, which automatically makes you amazing, because I really have fallen for the show. More love is always fantastic!

Hee, rec posts are super useful, aren't they? I am glad to be thought of as automatically amazing for facilitating one lol. I've used others very often so it's nice to do one of my own occasionally. These fics are so good, I want other Sherlock fans to know of the quality out there already, after only two episodes, heck after only one! It's pretty astonishing.

You can be lazy. I'm glad to provide lol ;) *hugs*

You should really be quite ashamed of yourself. My productivity today has dropped by an unfortunate 80% because I've spent all morning reading these amazing recs. I said I'd read one. And then just two. And then three. And -- well, you get the gist. Either way, I hope you cease torturing the masses with your brilliant tastes soon.

LOL why thank you, I am glad to distract you ;) There's so many Sherlocks fics out there, definitely some great ones that were posted after I did this list, but these are still my faves. Hope you got some work done this afternoon now ;)
